I am twitterpated about the extra day off we get this weekend! It's officially Friday (even though today is Thursday)! ...I'm addicted to vacations.
A friend and I were just chatting about how 'going on vacation,' often seem to be more work than just staying home. This morning after Little Baby went down for her nap instead of taking a few minutes and just putting my feet up and sipping some green tea, I quickly ran into the kitchen to get the food ready for our over-night trip. Fifty minutes later Little Baby was awake and I still wasn't done with the food prep.

Yes, it often takes a bit of work to go on vacation, especially when you have kids, and even more so when your kids are little. It might even be more restful to just opt for a staycation. But there is something about going out of town, on a trip. And part of the fun is the process, the journey.
Big Sister will probably find some bugs in her loft and have a melt down or two. Little Baby will try to shove anything she can get her chubby little fingers on into her gaping mouth, and keep us on our toes. Husband and I may have a number of heated disagreements about how closely we need to monitor Big Sister and Little Baby. But mostly we will cherish this privilege of spending this extra day to our weekend building memories.
And my heart swells with gratitude for this invaluable opportunity to break away from our typical routines and familiar surroundings and go out on a small adventure.
